Introduction

Walker Street Data turns a business's raw bank transaction data into decision-ready insight. Send us the transactions - as structured data you already hold, or as a PDF bank statement - and we return enriched, categorised transactions and a set of reports that describe the financial health of the business behind them.

The problem we solve

Bank transaction data is where the truth about a business's finances lives, but in its raw form it is hard to act on:

  • Descriptions are messy and inconsistent. The same merchant appears in dozens of formats, and a line like EFTPOS 8842 SYDNEY tells you little about what the money was actually for.
  • Formats vary. Data arrives as CSV exports, core-banking feeds, or PDF statements - each shaped differently.
  • Raw lines aren't decisions. Knowing every transaction is not the same as knowing whether a business can afford a facility, or how likely it is to default.

Bridging that gap - cleaning, categorising, and interpreting transaction data - is slow, manual, and hard to do consistently. Walker Street Data does it for you, through a single API.

What the platform does

Every transaction that enters the platform is automatically enriched: classified against a consistent taxonomy, resolved to a counterparty, and scored for confidence. From that enriched history we derive reports that answer the questions a credit or risk decision actually turns on:

  • Completeness - is the available data complete enough to decide on?
  • Risk Score - a probability-of-default signal to support underwriting.
  • Aggregate - cashflow and behavioural summaries for affordability analysis.

Reports are always computed over a customer's entire transaction history and refreshed automatically as new data arrives, so the picture stays current without extra calls.

What you can achieve

Walker Street Data is built for lenders, brokers, and any business that needs to understand the financial health of the businesses it works with. With it you can:

  • Assess creditworthiness - turn a customer's transaction history into an explainable, consistent risk signal for underwriting.
  • Judge affordability - see income, expenses, and cashflow patterns summarised for serviceability decisions.
  • Trust your data - know whether you have enough coverage to decide, before you decide.
  • Automate manual review - replace hours of statement-reading and spreadsheet work with a handful of API calls.

How it works

The whole integration is a short sequence of calls, built around a customer - Walker Street Data's term for an Australian business entity, identified by its 11-digit ABN.

  1. Create a customer with their ABN to obtain a customerId.
  2. Submit transactions - as JSON or a PDF bank statement. Processing is asynchronous; you receive a jobId.
  3. Retrieve enriched transactions once the job completes.
  4. Get reports - completeness, risk, and aggregate - in a single call.
